And so it begins……..

Monday, October 21st, 2013

So you may have noticed by the slightly shorter days, chillier nights and, oh yeah, all the leaves on the ground that fall is here.  And so begins the start of critter craft shows.

Last Saturday was my first show of the year.  It was in the rather gorgeous location of Sudbury, right outside in the center of town by the church (very New England).  I was excited to set up as I have changed up my booth display from my previous circus theme to more of a farm stand look…..what do you think?

I figured it was time for a change and the farm stand idea came into being from enjoying all the local farm stands over the summer.  I hope you can see some of my new critters in that piccie too……..you know the new critters I promised to share with you last post (whoops) and on his first outing Morris found a new mama

crittermama

Laura was lovely and I am super thrilled that Morris was going to live in such a fun new home…….the other cool info about Laura is that she is crafty/arty too  so Morris should make the transition into his new home easily……..yaaaaaaay.

And I just though I’d show you some new critters that showed up just in time for Halloween………..the Jack O’Pumkins they are listed in the shop but are very limited in supply and anyone who has pumpkins on display knows that their shelf life is not that long so snag ’em while you can.

Speaking of Halloween I decorated the house

I got the pumpkin buckets from Target and used them as planters………I love ’em!!!  it will be sad to take them away the boys aren’t so sure though

halloween I think it’s more proof for them that mama is crazy.  Happy Halloween…….I hope you decorated.

Better than Build a Bear……..

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Did you hear that?  That’s what I was told this past weekend at the Red Sled Christmas show in La Grange.   Basically 3 wee girls were given the choice of critters or a trip to build a bear………I was fearful that the critters were going to be rejected for the mighty build a bear…….. but they won……….yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay for the critters,  I tell ya they were squeaking with delight at that news.

Red Sled was a brilliant start to my Holiday Shows and I would like to thank everyone for coming and shopping and being so sweet to me and the critters,  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the love and support,  and knowing that the critters have wonderful new homes makes me sigh with relief and contentment.  I gotta tell ya though the weather was absolutely wonderful well in the 70s and it felt very odd to be putting up the Christmas trees on my booth…..although wouldn’t it be wonderful if it stayed like that in December too………..fingers crossed,  although I won’t hold my breath.

Here is the obligatory booth shot

Attempting the impossible…….

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Ladies and gentlemen……..drumroll please………

On Saturday November 28th,  Lulu of Lulu’s Stabby Critters will be attempting the impossible.    That’s right she will be doing the impossible feat of being two places at the same time!!!!   Gasp, what? who? where? It’s not possible, it can’t be done……I hear from the crowd.   Well yes it can (thanks to the brilliance of her hubby)  On Saturday November 28th Lulu’s Stabby Critters can be found not only at the Craftacular in Madison, Wi but also at the Bucktown Bazzar in Chicago, Il.

I’m not sure why I agreed to do 2 shows at the same time………it seemed like a good idea at the time.  I mean logistically it seems possible.  Mark can go to Chicago and take care of the critters there while I drive of to Madison….. easy.   But what i forgot about was the fact that dividing and conquering also means dividing up the critter stock……….waaaaaaaaaaah.   So needless to say I’m going to be VERY busy in the next couple of weeks……..yowzers I’m a mad woman,  or at least I will be by November 28th.

The St Cornelius Fall Fest was brilliant fun……it was my first experience of an outdoor street fair and the organizers were totally on it….

st cornelius fall fest

I really loved having my own little tent,   and it meant I could finally display mobiles………yaaaaaaaay,  I’m still working on how to do that for indoor booths,  but hopefully I’ll work it out this year.  Alright back to work .. ……which will be tough as I’ve just discovered the brilliantly hilarious regretsy.com now I really am addicted to looking at crap.

Alchemy

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

On Etys rocks!!!!!  I told you how I hated my booth table covering,  well I looked around for a solution and eventually came to the conclusion that I would have to buy the fabric that I wanted and…..shock horror!!! sew it myself……..gasp!!!! the horror!!!.  Now I now that I can’t sew well enough to even attempt this and yes I bought a sewing machine but it really has become comfortable in it’s little nook on the dining room floor and I just hate to disturb it.  So I made an Alchemy request for someone to make one for me…….

What I got was even better than I could possibly have hoped for (look she even included my little mousey) and I am so excited to use it at my upcoming shows.  It was made for me by the wonderful Kellyn and I am so glad she accepted my Alchemy request.

So talking about upcoming shows I guess it’s first outing will be this Saturday at the red sled holiday bazaar

501 W. Ogden, LaGrange, Illinois 60525

I hope if you are in the area you will come on by and see just how busy I’ve been over the last few weeks.

Current mood……

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Excited……..yup I am so excited and I just can’t hide it,  no not because I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I want you (sorry couldn’t help myself)  but because of these guys

I wanted to make these guys for ages but couldn’t quite work out how to make ’em then finally the penny dropped.   I painted and varnished my little terracotta pots and used pipe cleaners to support them so it also means you can kinda play with them too……..eeeek I love ’em I might have to keep one for a pincushion for myself.  In case you aren’t quite as much as a computer game geek as myself,  they are piranah plants from Mario’s world…….you know the plants that chomp poor little Mario’s head of if he gets to close.

I am also excited about tommorow at the empty bottle……….

Stop on by and say hi to me and the critters if you are in the area we’d love to meet you.

I’m a Loon……

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Not that this is a surprise to you (or me for that matter)  but yesterday I definately took the loony of all loony crowns.  You see yesterday I spent the whole day knitting little scarves for my snowmen ornaments……and I’m not really a knitter but still I love how the wee guys look with real scarves so I reckoned it had to be done.  I finally got finished with this endevour at around 8 o’ clock just in time for project runway yaaaaaaaay.  Oh and incidently what the hell was up with getting rid of Jerell?   How mad was that?  I think he was the best consistantly throughout the entire season and while I wasn’t keen on his wedding dress his bridesmaid’s dress was a trillion times better than Kenley’s monstrosity……..I reckon getting rid of him just makes it easier for them to award Leanne the winner…..but hey that’s just my opinion.

Ok so back to me,  after a whole day of knitting and other tedious household chores (ironing, yuck)  I figuered I was done crafting for the day………..but then I got an idea for a mobile,   well I’ve had it before but it started nigling at me to make it so at 10 o’clock I started making this…

I mean I love how it turned out (although I do want to make a needle felt version too) but we all know I can’t leave a project half done which meant I was still sewing well into the wee hours of the morning………sigh I’m sleepy today……yawn

Still I really wanted to make the mobile to bring it to the  Handmade Market at the Empty bottle in Chicago this weekend although I will also add it to the shop too.

I learned 3 things this past weekend…..

Monday, October 6th, 2008

number one – If you have a little bit of a journey to your craft show, make sure you leave with plenty of time to give yourself as much time for your set up as possible………I thought we had done this but see number two

number two –  Make sure to get really good directions to the venue where your craft show is taking place,  or else you will drive around like a crazy person randomly shouting out the names of the passing cross streets hoping that something sounds familiar,  even though you have never been in the neighborhood ever……whooops

number 3 – I LOVE doing craft shows,   I had such a great experience at Indie in the windy city.  The other vendors were wonderful and the shoppers were fantastic and  it has really left me excited for this weekend at the empty bottle.   Above is a picture of Markie (who was the perfect helper all day thanks Markie) with my booth set up,  I had it set up showing the chaos effect in action,  actually I guess I learned 4 things this weekend….. how not to set up my booth but again see number 2.

So this weekend I am extremely excited to be back in Chicago for

So if you are in the area please stop on by and say hi to me and the critters.

Wahoooooo

It’s toad

Making Bub and Bob got me thinking about all my other favourite cute computer game characters which of course inevitably meant I absolutely had to make toad from Mario fame.

Wahooooo is his catchphrase,  it’s also mine as I am full of nervous energy or maybe it’s anticipation for the craft fair tommorrow in Chicago.  I’m pretty much organised as in everything is packed up and ready to go but I keep feeling the need to recheck the boxes…….eeeeek do I have everything?  oh shoot did I remember to put the (insert essential of your choice) in?    I am so freaking out which definately means I need to get much more craft show experience……..oh well at least I am working on remedying the situation right?

So if you are in the Chicago area please stop on by and say hi
