Finally a new stabby

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Yeah, yeah I know……I have been very lazy on the stabby front. But I was contacted by BossaNovaBaby through Etsy last week to make a Yoda for her son’s birthday. I just thought I’d share with you guys first…..

yoda yoda

He was really fun to make…..probably because I love Star wars, but I really love how he turned out (even if I do say so myself….ahem)

Anyway today I’m going to go into a needle frenzy…..I’ve got tons of ideas for critters and I really want to see if I can make them.

I love the weekends

Aaaah I do. I love especially to go to the market on the square that happens every Saturday in Madison……It is all local produce/cheeses and plants and numerous other stuff. I have always been a big fan of wild flowers and thanks to the market I have a balcony full of them………it’s a real dingly dell now and it makes me very happy to sit out there in the sun with my coffee and my cats.

some of my market lovelies. In the teracotta planter 2 different types of echinacea daisies. then thai basil and regular basil and the big white planter has 4 different kinds of lavendar and finally my tomato plants………..we’ve had tons of yummy toms of these tiny bushes, and everything smells wonderful.

I mentioned my cats love to sit on the balcony with me so I thought it only fair to plant a little something for them to appreciate so…..

tadah……I got two different types of catnip (my boys are the biggest nip heads in the world) and some cat grass for Floyd. It seems to be a big hit and I reckon if it grows well I can make cat nip toys for them and my etsy store.

Anyway back to my market story. There is also a street of vendors selling handmade goods and one booth’s clothing in particular I fell in love with, she’s called orangyporangy. Her tee-shirts, skirts and bags are fantastic. I got 2 tops, one for a friend and one for me…….can’t wait to wear it, it has little vintage buttons sewn to it and is very hipster friendly.

Ok ok i know you are thinking wait a minute, where is the stabby critter? why is Lulu telling us about some market in Madison? well just because it made me happy really, but you are right so with that I give you Spike…..

Overly excited!!!!!!

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Yup I am ……Why?  Because every day is getting closer to the new Harry Potter movie……………waaaaaaaa I can’t breathe I am so excited about it…..  which is why I managed to buy too many tickets for it on fandango today.

It was entirely my fault,  I got the email saying the tickets were now available in my area so I booked 2 for 10pm wednesday……then I thought…. hang on I wonder if there is a midnight show on Tuesday/Wednesday morning and sure enough there was …………ooooooops.  So of course I have to see it as soon as it’s out so I guess we will see it 2 days in a row yaaaaaaaaay……. I mean dang.   And I have brilliant seats to see it at the imax theatre in Chicago on the 15th very back row score.  It has to be better than when we saw goblet of fire on the imax in DC’s air and space museum and were very front row,  good god that hurt my neck 2hours of looking up hurts.

Anyway yes I am Harry Potter obssessed so I can’t wait…….

On another creative note I made Willoughby the Walrus

Do you like him?

Barnaby Bunny

barnaby barnaby

It seemed like I hadn’t needle felted for ages, and to be honest I think because I had made so many critters for the lovli craft fair in such a short time I was a bit hesitant to make another one for a while.

But I couldn’t keep away from the roving for long. Meet Barnaby T. Bunny……..What do you think? I am really pleased with how he turned out, I think he’s my most cartoony critter to date. I love his dopey goofy expression to bits.

He’s a big boy as well, bigger than all my other critters. I think my time off needle felting made me crazy with my wool supply.

Another goodie for the Art o mat

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

well if they like it that is……..

I’m loving making the mobiles…….so I thought why not try and do one for the artomat. What do you think? Oh I hope they like it.

All the goodies laid out. And when you put them together you get…..

taaaadaaah. Your own little tabletop mobile.

So I hope it goes over well with the Art o mat peeps. I love being an art o mat artist and there is nothing like the feeling of being unappreciated in your own time……I feel so worthy…… : )

I’ve become obsessed

Friday, June 15th, 2007

With my etsy store. I am serious, I find myself constantly thinking of things to put in there just to make it look cool……I am not even thinking about wether or not it sells (really, I swear).

I think it’s because earlier this week a lovely etsian named Onama http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=54355 very sweetly made me a banner. I think she felt sorry for me and my pathetic effort for a banner…..but anyway I love it, have you seen it yet? shame on you if you haven’t quick take a peek I’ll wait here…..

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5096861. So what do you think?

Well as I said I love it and it has become a goal to get as many people to see it as possible, which of course means lots of cool stuff for the store. So on that note what do you think of my mobiles?

chickee mobile  chickee mobile

The chickens are made from felt and are all hand stitched………gawd I need a sewing machine, they took ages to make. The little eggs are of course needle felted from Corridale wool roving. They look pretty sweet.

I also put my mice to good use..

So I am loving my mobiles. And can’t wait to put them in the store.

On another happy note, I heard from Took Gallagher via email. Took owns a gallery in the Detroit area called the Dancing Eye Gallery, and was letting me know she had received some of my stabby critters for her art-o-mat machine. Now this is unbelievably cool for 2 reasons……..number one being Took is the only art-o-mat artist that I have ever bought 2 boxes of from the Madison machine…….I love her Juniors they are so cool. And number 2 ……Detroit area yaaaaay My critters are travelling further than I thought they would. Yaaaaay it’s gonna be a critter invassion.

Anyway Took has a myspace page that shows her work and the work of other artomat artists check it out it’s pretty cool…

If you have a myspace page I’d add her as friend. I of course don’t have a myspace page as I find myspace scary and creepy. And I also don’t like it’s connection to Rupert Murdoch and Fox, but then that’s just me.

Princess Leia

Monday, May 28th, 2007

What do you think of Leia? I will do more of my Star Wars faves but I doubt it will be in time for Portland…..oh well.

I also made a frog called Fergus….

Even More Lovely stabby critters

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

My god it’s literally a stabby frenzy at my house. I was worried 3 weeks ago that I didn’t have enough time to make a decent table display of critters at the Lovli fair……Well I am not worried anymore, and I love what I’ve made……now I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that other people think so too.

Anyway here is SUPER MARIO

So hopefully I can put together a pretty display that attracts people over. And if not well I like them so it could be worse.

new critters

I told you I had been busy. I have listed them all for sale on the lov.li website in preparation for the fair on June 3rd. I’m getting excited about the trip now.

A lovely challenge

Friday, May 4th, 2007

So I’ve well established my etsy addiction here. But the best thing happened a couple of nights ago. There I was typing away when I was contacted by a lovely lady named Kim (also I assume an etsy addict) who commissioned me to make a critter of her lovely pussy cat Ducky who had recently passed away.

Here is my homage to Ducky in wool..

Ducky Ducky

So I made sure I kept all of the real Ducky’s markings, and I think Kim was really pleased. I like doing stuff like this it’s nice to think people have something completely unique for them and that they can cherish .

I also listed my itty bitty kittys

So pat me on the back I had a productive day……yaaaaay. Unfortunatly today is grocery shopping and cleaning day………boooooo.
